A little about me

I wanted to create this blog for people that might need that extra boost when trying to come up with workouts or sometimes just can't simply think of a workout. I am going to try my best to get on here daily with a new workout written up, just for you! But a little about me first and how I got started into this:

I have always been pretty athletic, especially in high school and college years. I played volleyball most my life up until I was about 18 years old. I played all through high school and went to North Greenville University on a volleyball scholarship. I played there for about a year until I decided to return home. Fast forward a couple years, I am 25 now and on my 24th birthday I decided to change my life for the better. In those few years, between 21 and 25 I had two kids. My son was 2 at the time I started this craziness, and my daughter was about 8 months. In May of 2016 I had lost track over the years, and decided it was time to make a change. It was the week after my birthday, and me and my sister attended one of the classes they offered at our local YMCA, and we had a blast, it was so much fun. We had dropped the kids off at their childcare they offered for free there with my membership. I remember my sister saying, "You should just come here everyday for like an hour to get a break from the kids, and take these free classes they offer to clear your head." I thought, that's a really good idea. So there I sat in the parking lot, looking at the schedules, putting different classes in my calendar. I attended a few classes that week, actually I don't think I missed a day. And I was having so much fun, I didn't know anyone, but everyone was super friendly and welcoming. That next Monday I decided to take a class called Le Boot, it was a boot camp class, which was a little different then any class I had taken so far. To be honest, I had only taken a couple yoga classes, which don't get me wrong, were awesome, but I had not yet attended a high intensity class yet. And I was worried. So during that whole class, I felt like leaving, I couldn't hardly do anything these people were doing. And it was a little frustrating to be honest. After about 40 minutes of non stop cardio and strength our instructor decided for us to do the burpee pyramid exercise. Not sure what exactly it was called, so I'll go with that. Well this consisted of, 1 burpee, 5 second break, 2 burpees, 5 second break, 3 burpees, 5 second break, and so on. We did 20 of those, which equaled 210 burpees. I was dead. But I was also hooked to that feeling, that feeling of accomplishing something I didn't think I could. So I continued the classes. I got introduced to the sport of obstacle course racing. Took my first class, ran my first race that June, yes I know I had only been exercising for about 4 weeks but I felt ready, so I went. Throughout the next few months, I learned how to climb a rope, I learned how to do a pull-up, and I got my first trifecta in October 2016. It was amazing. That year is what got me into these races, and I am so glad my life changed this way.

So after all of that, I have a new set of goals I want to accomplish this year, I will try to share them if I am able to achieve them. I do believe you can achieve anything you put your mind to, with some hard work and dedication. I am so glad I can share with you guys my personal experience and my training schedule as well. I couldn't do any of this without the support from all you guys!

Below is a before and after pic from 2016, this is only 4 months apart..anything is possible!
